In a major step towards the future of food delivery, Just Eat Takeaway.com has introduced drone delivery services in Dublin, working alongside Manna Drones Ltd to provide customers with faster and more efficient food deliveries.
The new service allows customers to receive food orders from participating restaurants via drone. Meals are dispatched from local hubs and can arrive at a customer’s location in as little as three minutes. This marks a significant move by Just Eat Takeaway.com as it aims to modernize delivery operations and reduce wait times during peak hours.
The company also confirmed that following the successful rollout in Dublin, it plans to expand drone delivery services to additional countries. Just Eat Takeaway currently operates in 17 countries, including Germany, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland.
The use of drones not only enhances delivery speed but also helps reduce dependence on gig workers, addressing growing concerns over labor conditions in the online food delivery industry.
Globally, other major brands are exploring similar innovations. In the United States, companies like Amazon and Walmart have already launched drone delivery services, while in Europe, Foodora Group is testing both robot and drone deliveries in Norway and Sweden, with plans to expand across the Nordic region by 2026.
This launch comes after Just Eat Takeaway.com faced recent business changes, including delisting from the London Stock Exchange and its €4.1 billion acquisition by Prosus. Despite these shifts, the company is investing in technology-driven solutions to stay competitive and deliver better service to its customers.
With drone deliveries now available in Dublin, Just Eat Takeaway.com is positioning itself as a leader in next-generation food delivery, combining speed, innovation, and convenience.
