On February 13, the US Department of Justice charged three people from Flighttime Enterprises, a US subsidiary of a Russian company, for illegally exporting aircraft parts. These individuals allegedly shipped critical aircraft components to Russia without the proper licenses, violating US export controls.
The illegal shipment included four airplane parts worth over $2 million. These actions circumvented restrictions placed on Russia after its invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The accused used intermediary companies to hide the final destination of the parts, which were ultimately sent to Russia.

Western sanctions have hit Russia’s civil aviation sector hard, making it increasingly difficult for the country to obtain the parts needed to maintain its commercial aircraft.
